I am still very fresh from my trip to Mangalore with my classmates. It was an industrial visit. But we all know what it means when you are 21. Just having fun.
I joined my friends on Malpe beach. We took a ferry to St. Merry's Island. What a place!! The feeling of being on a place surrounded by water and miles and miles of horizon is just breath taking. It is something better experienced. Anyway the scene was set for some really amazing photos and I did just that. (I'll upload them shortly.)
This was followed by the routine of joining my friends for a nice swim. We then headed back to our lodge to decide on what to after the industry visit. A lot of arguments till 1 in the morning did not prove useful. So we went to bed.
The next morning we were set to visit the industry. After a lot of efforts my classmates had convinced MANGALORE CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS (MCF) authorities to allow us to see their facilities. We were first briefed about the safety issues and the company's illustrious past. Though we do not have any subjects or lessons which tell us about production techniques, we were able to acquaint ourselves with some of the equipment there. Now that we were done with the industry, we headed to PABBA's. It's an ice-cream lover's paradise. (I still wish we could have had more though!!) We then went back to our rooms and decided on places of interest. Still of no use. Frustrated with this we decided to go to a beach and setup a camp fire. I still am not sure about the name of the beach but it is probably the most fun I have had on a beach. We had the entire beach to ourselves. What more can you ask for? The camp fire, friends and the beach was portrayed in the movies. Dinner time, but somehow I was not in the mood to eat. I just wanted to got my room, take a shower and sleep. But that would not be the case. We still had not decided on a place for the next day. So, after some discussions about till 3 in the morning covering all topics other than the place, we dozed off.
It was a fresh start today. I was told that we would return to Bangalore and we would take the route via Sakleshpur. On the way, we were slated to go to our lecturer's coffee and pepper estate (also have lunch there!!). I would like to thank out lecturer for the hospitality. It was now a long journey back to Bangalore. It was time then for the usual round of music and dance. Many hours later, we reached Bangalore. There is something special about coming back to a place you know. I guess you go in search of something and find that it is right here, at home.
I must admit, the trip was not all rosy and smooth going as you might think after reading this. But that is fine by me. Things do go out of hand sometimes and we all had our moments. You get to know your friends better when you are outside the comfort of home. That, for me is more than a reason to do such things occasionally.
