Fiction to Reality
In one of my previous posts, there was a mention about technology being helpful and how it is constantly under the criticism of the environmental freaks. This time though, the advantages are in the limelight. The idea suddenly popped up when I was having a conversation with a friend of mine, when all of a sudden the topic of "science fiction" came into picture. Movies in the 60's and 70's suggested that we would have robots doing the house work and space thrusters to reach offices on time. Although we have not developed as per their expectations or should I say, ideas, we certainly have grown by leaps and bounds.
For example, if you wish to enroll yourself to an institute or an exam, no longer do you have to wait in long queues for your forms or receipts. Everything is now online and just a click away. You can even look up in discussion forums and interact with fellow students whom you would have never met or might not even meet in the future. How cool is that? Have a passion for music? No problem, there are plenty of sites which help you become a pro in not time. 40 years back, if you told anyone that your everyday car would run on batteries or on hydrogen, people would think otherwise. Just give this a thought, all civic amenities, documents, blueprints, nearly everything you see or use everyday came from a computer or received an order to do so. Whats more, a certain someone has even predicted that humans will be immortal by 2029, thanks to some hi-tech programming and nanotechnology. This might sound a little far fetched.(Maybe because I believe in circle of life and God)
However, I believe that we have reached such heights of development that nothing can be termed "fiction". What has happened here is, if you have a crazy idea, there's no need to worry. You will have all the technical backing to carry it out. Some things never change though. A classic case in point is our system of education. How many of you see students carrying laptops to classes? A handful in the entire college perhaps. Would we not be saving time if our lecturers send notes as PDFs or documents? However this being a very debatable and sensitive issue, let me not comment further and it's always your take on it. The post seems a bit incomplete and not put together properly. This is mainly due to the sheer number of ideas going through my mind right now and my inability to express all of them. Remember one thing though. Everything you see around you and work on is made of 1's and 0's.
