Living amidst fear

When was the last time you took a stroll without a worry in the world? Not for anything, not to anywhere, just a walk. While you think about it, here's what I have to say.

Not so many days ago, I was on my usual college commute. It's nothing much to write about, just traffic and bad roads. On that day though, something not so mundane was happening. The Police in patrol vehicles and were warning everyone not to expose their gold chains and other such expensive stuff. It was quite a shock to me. No doubt it's always good to keep people informed about the current crisis. But I could not help thinking why. While I was at it, I saw many pedestrians and other passers by heeding to the advice and doing the appropriate. A couple of days later, another incident, this time an attempted robbery came to my notice.

The constant feeling of insecurity and helplessness has got me worried. Have I locked my house properly? Have I parked my vehicle in a safe spot? Is my family getting to destinations safely? Is it safe to travel after 11pm? These are only a few of the thousands of fears that are haunting us every time we step out. The 26/11 attack has justified such fears among everyone. I mean, who even thought that just another day to work would lead to such a catastrophe? It's not just the common man who is limited to it, even our "Page3" celebs are under the radar. The only difference being that they can hide it in front of the cameras and we can't.

This is not a post to recollect the 26/11 incident. We all know that the pains and consequences faced cannot be expressed in words. I wanted to elaborate this post, but paucity of time has taken over and is telling me to get back to my CAT preparation. In the meantime, think about the walk.
