Chowchow bath
As am sure you know, chowchow bath is used to represent a mixture of events/stories which might not be related to one another. This post is similar to that. There are lots of things for me to mention, which I shall try to cram in here. First though, wish you all a very happy new year. If what the movie 2012 is to go by, then we have just about 2 more years to look forward to!! Still this is what happened in the new year so far.
Soon after my exams got over, we(read parents and me) headed to Talkad. As is the case with most of our temples, there is a lot of heritage and tradition tagged to the place. The best part of the trip was that we were accompanied by a localite, who eventually became a very good friend at the end of the day. Although we had some preferential treatment everywhere we went, I must admit that the amenities and roads are pretty pathetic. A week later, my cousin planned on another tour. This actually turned out to be one of my "proper" treks.
There is a place near Kanakpura called Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta. For directions, just look up on the internet. Now, even the novice of trekkers would suggest you to start early and eat enough. Nevertheless, with both the conditions given a skip and armed with a bottles of coke each, we started the long walk to the base of the hill (a mountain if you ask me!). It seemed fine in the beginning and then things took a turn for the worse. The sun was beating down upon us and the path got steeper, not to mention slippery. About a third of the way up and one of our group members decided to throw in the towel and slept! Few more tiring paces and even the experienced trekkers were feeling the hostility of the terrain. Coke was probably the reason for this. Still, sheer will kept us going and soon there was another problem. I was not fast enough to keep up with the lead group nor was I so slow that I could be left behind. If you are the sort who thinks solitude is fine, then try being in such situations. After a lot of self determination and "aaall izz well" lines I made it to the top. And what a feeling that was! You can actually drive to the top or do what we did. I suggest you take a hike! On reaching there, we met some very friendly folk, who were generous enough to offer us some much needed food and water. Their hospitality reminded me that such things can happen only here, in India. We appropriately thanked them and decided to head back. All in all though, it was a wonderful experience and felt very satisfying indeed.
Lastly, I would just like to mention that I have officially started working on my final semester project. I am genuinely thrilled about it and hope to work with enthusiasm and dedication. I know it sounds like an oath(!!) but am really looking forward to it.
P.S: Two highly anticipated movies were released during my exams, Avatar and 3 idiots. Having watched both, I suggest you give Avatar a skip and watch 3 idiots. Try not to rationalize too much and enjoy the movie for what it is.
