Change
Everything around and including us are in a state of constant motion. We never really feel it since it's all relative, as in your surroundings are moving at your pace. Changes sometimes can be rapid, erratic, brutal, soothing, unnerving, exciting, depressing etc., What I'm really trying to say here is that nothing is constant. As the lord states in the Geetha, it's a case of just reusing what once belonged to someone else. You are born alone, die alone and in the state of life, you just transfer ownership of one object to another, nothing is yours, nothing is constant.
While this may be a very naïve understanding of the epic, it truly is enlightening. I come across folks everyday who are obsessed about buying mansions to the ridiculous idea of retiring early in life. Ambitions to buy into property or luxury maybe someone's way of showing that they have arrived in life, but the thought of retirement is something I simply don't buy. My approach of life being fluid has paid off so far. I'm not really the sort you'd see, saving up every dime so that I can retire soon. I believe in working hard as long as my body and mind are capable. Fluidity is what makes life so beautiful and worth living for me.
A while back, I had outlined how I was stranded alone at the airport after missing my flight for no fault of mine. This sort of fluidity is what life is all about. I don't want to look back to my twenties and feel miserable not doing something out-of-the box. I want to work, explore music, play my guitar, explore places and most important of all, make the society a better place to stay. The industrial revolution has done it's share of polluting our planet to a great extent. We are reaching a phase where present technologies will only evolve, rather than revolutionize products around us. You would be mocked in the fifties if you made such statements, because people are anxious about change. I mention my real life scenarios here, just to demonstrate how adaptable we are to changes. It just requires a spirited mindset. The same way that I have been able to respond to the ups and downs of life, we will embrace greener and cleaner practices right from their infancy if we are open to them. Through this medium, I request you to do the same. Help protect the planet, use alternate forms of energy wherever possible, do your bit. Remember, it all starts from you!
The next revolution will be one where we learn to respect nature, our surroundings and live harmoniously with them. Maybe our ancestors had mastered that, but that again has changed. We will have all these amazing gadgets and gizmos, but they will be kinder to the environment. For some reason or the other, we relied too heavily on fuel reserves for decades. It's time to embrace the beauty of our surroundings and learn how we can sustain this lifestyle, it's time to change.
