Summing up 2015

There is something about the year end that triggers a lot of emotions (although this is being published in 2016, just tell yourself you had a great 2015 and move on). Facebook even let's you put together your moments in a nice video, although considering the alter ego nature of social media, they tend to showcase the highs more than the lows. From resolutions to their realizations, there is quite a lot that pictures cannot convey. With that in mind, let me try and first thank everyone who's been a great part of my life this year, both new and old.

2015 was one of those highlight years where I spent in college, completed a super stressful internship and towards the fag end of the year, met a lot of old pals that I had missed during my stay away from Bangalore. The year started with classes, classes, a few more classes and then some, before taking me on a journey throughout Karnataka where I got to meet people from various walks of life, learnt to live out of a suitcase, give desk work a miss and to an extent go offline.

Agreeing to travel the state for anyone who is used to a desk job for years is a challenge, believe me when I say it. We are used to setting up desks to mimic the real world, be it with indoor plants or some weird stones that your friend got you from another country; claiming to have positive energy in your cubicle. However, working amidst real vegetation and walking on not to so well polished stones is a little blown out of proportion. Interacting with the not so well educated, staying in hotels without internet, bad room service and other things I would not like to mention here is certainly not everyone's cup of tea. Like all great stories though, once done with the grind, the rewards and sense of accomplishment are amazing. I think it is something we must all do at some point.

Although I had made a few resolutions of writing more, reading more, eating less - not all worked out. It was always a circle where one of the resolutions would take an upper hand, leaving the others a distant second or third. The objective this time around is not to try and alter them, but equalize the importance so that some kind of holistic growth is seen as an individual and professional. With that, let me sign out for 2015 and hope for another great chapter, that is 2016. May the force be with you.
