WHAT’S COOL AND WHAT’S NOT?

I apologize for the lack of activity here, thanks to internal assessments and usual college issues. Now that I am done with all of it, am back!! After thinking of hundreds of things to write, the thought of how the “do’s” and “don’ts” have changed, came to me. Its 2 hours to my next internals and the preparation is not encouraging. The poor preparation is not just the case with me but my classmates also. There is an option of skipping it and take it the next time. But somewhere there is voice that tells me to take a chance in the next few hours. However, a few of my friends decide to skip the test. No effort was made to read even a single question!! What I am trying to say here is very simple. Two decades ago, your parents would have yelled at you for taking an afternoon nap when you had nothing to do. It was a disgrace to be lazy and lethargic. On the subject of exams, well, a month or two in advance was allocated exclusively for them and a lot of planning would have been done. Peo...

Stumped!!

I'll be very honest. Am not the person who would discuss career opportunities with my classmates. We generally shy away from the topic saying that there is still a lot of time for that. Recently though I was asked about our plans after graduation. Trying hard not to sound uncertain and negligent, I somehow convinced that we all were headed somewhere, be it studies or a job. I must admit that it left me intrigued for a while. What would happen if all that I had said went horribly wrong? We have never had enough exposure about the industry and its practices. Trust me when I say this, what you read in the magazines and newspapers does not prepare you for what is out there. The seriousness and commitment required in a job are some of the few aspects which we are not aware of. During these times of economic crisis, decisions taken about out careers are of utmost importance. Planning to the minutest of details is necessary. I just hope that in all the seriousness, we dont miss out on the...

I Bow to thee, Doctor

I would like to dedicate this post to all those doctors out there who are saving countless lives around the clock. You maybe wondering as to what I am trying to say. Well, lately I have watched a couple of movies showing the commitment and determination to save lives and make a difference. The movies are, The Motorcycle Diaries and The Last King of Scotland. I guess you would have watched them by now and wondering what is so special? The Motorcycle Diaries is just a collection of events of one of the most radical and daring individuals of this era, Che Guevara. The movie shows the adventures he has as a young man. The path he chooses to understand his motherland and its people better. An old motorcycle, a trusted friend and the desire to explore South America. As a doctor he serves patients suffering from leprosy. He revolutionizes the practices and unites the sick with the rest of the world. Later on, he takes a different course and becomes a revolutionary. The Last King of Scotland ...
I am still very fresh from my trip to Mangalore with my classmates. It was an industrial visit. But we all know what it means when you are 21. Just having fun. I joined my friends on Malpe beach. We took a ferry to St. Merry's Island. What a place!! The feeling of being on a place surrounded by water and miles and miles of horizon is just breath taking. It is something better experienced. Anyway the scene was set for some really amazing photos and I did just that. (I'll upload them shortly.) This was followed by the routine of joining my friends for a nice swim. We then headed back to our lodge to decide on what to after the industry visit. A lot of arguments till 1 in the morning did not prove useful. So we went to bed. The next morning we were set to visit the industry. After a lot of efforts my classmates had convinced MANGALORE CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS (MCF) authorities to allow us to see their facilities. We were first briefed about the safety issues and the company's...
